陳淑珠理事長主持PPSEAWA泛太平洋暨東南亞婦女協會90年來首次在台年會

　泛太平洋暨東南亞婦女協會(Pan-Pacific and Southeast Asia Women’s Association，PPSEAWA)，2019年國際年會於今(23日)於板橋凱撒飯店隆重舉行年會開幕典禮，這是泛太平洋暨東南亞婦女協會年會90年來第一次在台灣擴大舉辦，呈現台灣的驕傲成果。

　　三年一度的國際盛會，今年共有13個會員國代表團來台與會，由各會員國掌旗入場揭開序幕。為表重視與歡迎，主辦單位PPSEAWA中華民國分會特別邀請到蔡英文總統蒞臨現場。蔡總統於開幕致詞表示：「台灣多年來致力於促進泛太平洋地區婦女在研究與改善社會、經濟及文化條件方面的合作，針對不同主題，如：文化差異、兒童教育、婦女權益、性別平等、環境健康、族群關懷等，進行經驗交流與合作改善，共同為此地區更好的發展而努力，同時展現台灣在此領域的成就與能見度。」

　　本屆年會主題為「Life’s Journey to Wellbeing，生命的幸福之旅」，於6月23日至6月27日會期間舉行多場座談會，針對婦女經濟力、兩性平權、人口老化等議題探討，力求增加女性福祉。為呼應PPSEAWA國際年會的活動傳統及聯合國「永續發展目標」(SDGs)環境保護項目的達成，主辦單位將於6月26日舉辦「和平植樹活動」，與林試所合作，並與台北市府長官偕同PPSEAWA國際總會及會員國理事長們共同於萬華青年公園植樹，預計共同植下八棵台灣原生種紅楠幼苗，象徵我國於增進世界和平、友誼及環保上之貢獻，意義深遠。

　　主辦單位PPSEAWA中華民國分會理事長陳淑珠女士於開幕致詞提到：「PPSEAWA是台灣目前唯一參與的聯合國轄下國際非政府組織，總會在聯合國經濟社會理事會擁有第二類諮詢地位，也對聯合國亞洲及泛太平洋經濟社會委員會、教科文組織、婦女權益等提供諮詢意見，是目前全球最大、最有影響力的婦女社團。能夠在國際激烈競爭中，成功爭取到每三年一次的國際年會在台舉辦，實屬不易。尤在國際社會日益艱困的處境下得以讓國際社會看見台灣在婦女議題上的努力並提升台灣的國際能見度。」盼望台灣美麗的風景、世界聞名的美食，以及親切友善的人民，為各會員國嘉賓留下深刻美好的回憶。

　　PPSEAWA泛太平洋暨東南亞婦女協會係自1928年來由一群關心國際議題的婦女，希望通過了解和友誼進而促進世界和平而成立，這樣的初衷也是90年來PPSEAWA堅持的使命。PPSEAWA目前在泛太平洋地區有20個會員國，致力於促進泛太平洋地區婦女在研究與改善社會、經濟及文化條件方面的合作，每三年舉辦一次國際年會，針對不同主題，如：文化差異、兒童教育、婦女權益、性別平等、環境健康、族群關懷等，進行經驗交流與合作改善，共同為此地區更好的發展而努力。

　　PPSEAWA中華民國分會在國際婦女領域以及在聯合國重要組織及其活動扮演積極角色，並擁有重要影響力，是台灣推動國際交流的重要平台。中華民國分會現任理事長陳淑珠女士自2013年7月接任PPSEAWA以來，不僅關注促進婦女權益的提升、性別平權的落實，同時也非常重視PPSEAWA在台灣的國際連結，大力推動｢以國際交流促進國民外交｣的理念，多年來帶領PPSEAWA台灣積極參與總會的重要活動，並且促成PPSEAWA各會員國多次來台進行與婦女權益、環境保護、社區關懷等議題的實質交流，大幅提升PPSEAWA台灣的國際地位。

　　期望透過本屆年會的舉辦，能將台灣對於婦女議題的發展成果與世界友人分享，另將台灣經貿建設及社會福利成就呈現在國際上，持續提升台灣能見度與建立台灣與國際的連結。
