In response to the main theme of the 26th PPSEAWA International Conference 2016: \u201cRespect the Environment for a Sustainable and Peaceful Future\u201d, as well as the June 5 UN World Environment Day, PPSEAWA Taiwan, ROC, under the arrangement of the Association\u2019s advisor Dr. Eugene Chien, initiated a visit to Taiwan\u2019s most successful low carbon community on June 18. The delegation led by President of PPSEAWA Taiwan, ROC, Ms. Regina Chen, visited the renowned low carbon community in Taipei, Chien Tan District. During the visit, members of association were first briefed by the Administrator of the district, Mr. Bi wu-liang, introducing the past and status quo of the community, followed by a comprehensive tour of various low carbon infrastructure of the community. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u672c\u6b21\u53c3\u8a2a\u7684\u793e\u5340:\u53f0\u5317\u5e02\u4e2d\u5c71\u5340\u528d\u6f6d\u91cc\uff0c\u6539\u5efa\u81ea\u96dc\u4e82\u7121\u7ae0\u3001\u8001\u820a\u4e0d\u582a\u7684\u8ecd\u7737\u793e\u5340\uff1b\u800c\u6210\u529f\u5efa\u7acb\u528d\u6f6d\u91cc\u70ba\u4f4e\u78b3\u793e\u5340\u5178\u7bc4\u7684\u80cc\u5f8c\u6700\u5927\u63a8\u624b\u3001\u9748\u9b42\u4eba\u7269~\u7562\u7121\u91cf\u91cc\u9577\uff0c\u662f\u4e00\u4f4d\u9000\u5f79\u8ecd\u4eba\uff0c\u884c\u52d5\u529b\u767e\u5206\u767e\uff0c\u51e1\u4e8b\u4e3b\u52d5\u51fa\u64ca\u70ba\u5c45\u6c11\u89e3\u6c7a\u554f\u984c\uff0c\u8fe5\u7136\u4e0d\u540c\u8207\u50b3\u7d71\u91cc\u9577\u88ab\u52d5\u5f0f\u7d93\u71df\u793e\u5340\u7684\u6a21\u5f0f\u3002\u7562\u91cc\u9577\u81ea\u4e0a\u4efb\u4ee5\u4f86\uff0c\u9010\u6b65\u63a8\u884c\u5927\u884c\u52d5\u4e3b\u8ef8\uff1a\u300c\u5065\u5eb7\u9f4a\u6b65\u8d70\u3001\u5065\u5eb7\u53c8\u6a02\u6d3b\u300d\u2014\u5e36\u968a\u8d70\u8def\u4e0a\u5b78\u3001\u6e1b\u5c11\u793e\u5340\u6c7d\u6a5f\u8eca\u78b3\u6392\u653e\uff1b\u300c\u5275\u9020\u90fd\u5e02\u7da0\u6d32\u300d–\u63a8\u52d5\u9802\u6a13\u3001\u5927\u6a13\u5916\u7246\u7da0\u5730\u690d\u88ab\uff0c\u5e73\u5747\u964d\u6eab5\u5ea6C\u4ee5\u4e0a\u3002\u53e6\u5916\u7d93\u7531\u63db\u88dd\u7701\u96fb\u71c8\u5177\u3001\u518d\u751f\u80fd\u6e90–\u56de\u61c9\u4e16\u754c\u95dc\u71c8\u65e5\u7684\u6982\u5ff5\uff0c\u990a\u6210\u5bb6\u5ead\u95dc\u4e0a\u4e0d\u5fc5\u8981\u96fb\u71c8\u3001\u8017\u96fb\u7522\u54c1\uff1b\u516c\u5171\u5340\u57df\u8a2d\u7f6e\u592a\u967d\u80fd\u677f\uff0c\u4f9b\u516c\u5171\u7167\u660e\u4f7f\u7528\u30022011\u5e74\u7372\u82f1\u570b\u6a19\u6e96\u5354\u6703(BSI)\u8a8d\u8b49\u78b3\u4e2d\u548c\u6b8a\u69ae\uff0c\u6210\u529f\u6210\u70ba\u53f0\u7063\u7b2c\u4e00\u500b\u300c\u78b3\u4e2d\u548c\u300d\u793e\u5340\uff0c\u70ba\u6e1b\u78b3\u6982\u5ff5\u63d0\u5347\u81f3\u66f4\u9ad8\u5c64\u6b21\uff0c\u958b\u555f\u6e1b\u78b3\u65b0\u65b9\u5411\uff01\u800c\u74b0\u5883\u4e7e\u6de8\u4e86\u3001\u4eba\u5c31\u5065\u5eb7\u4e86\u301c2013\u5e74\u69ae\u7372\u570b\u969b\u6700\u9069\u5b9c\u5c45\u4f4f\u734e-\u9285\u8cea\u734e\u3002
Chien Tan District was regenerated from a messy, old and falling apart compound for military dependents a few years ago. And the sole promoter who successfully transformed this old compound into an outstanding example for low carbon community is none other than the Administrator of the district, Mr. Bi wu-liang, a retired military officer, who has devoted all of his time and energy to actively solving problems for the residents of the community. A totally innovative attitude and management in comparison with the old style of management in the past years.
Ever since Mr. Bi took office, a series of efforts of promoting \u201cLifestyles of Health and Sustainability\u201d and a low carbon environment have been initiated. This includes \u201cwalk together to school for students\u201d, reducing carbon emission of vehicles within the community, creating \u201curban oasis\u201d by promoting green vegetation on the roof and facades of buildings, and as a result, the average indoor temperature of those buildings was reduced by more than 5 degrees Celsius. In addition, by installing energy saving lightings, collecting renewable energies, and encouraging families to turn off unnecessary lightings, considerable energy were saved. In public areas of the community, Mr. Bi also installed several sets of solar panel, and it was sufficient enough to support electricity for public usage of the community. In 2012, Chien Tan District was certified by British Standards Institution as a \u201ccarbon neutral\u201d community, which made the Chien Tan District the first \u201ccarbon neutral\u201d community in Taiwan. With cleaner environment, a healthier community followed. In 2013, the community was presented the \u201cbronze International Award for Livable Communities\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carbon reduction has become an attitude of life that we all should follow. It is no longer a slogan or banner! The climate change and devastating natural disasters are all we currently facing. In order to pursue a safer life, the PPSEAWA Taiwan, ROC hopes that through the visit of the low carbon community this time, the practice of a low carbon concept can be introduced to the everyday life of our members. Let us join together hand in hand to live every day with \u201clow carbon\u201d attitude, and save our one and only beautiful planet!
At the end of the visit, President Regina Chen specified that, in addition to echoing the UN Environment Day as well as the main theme of the 26th PPSEAWA International Conference 2016, what was more important was that through bring into full play a low carbon daily life by each family, such as replacing old and high energy consuming electronic appliances, walk more drive less, reducing carbon emission, Afforestation for a comfortable living environment, installation of solar panels for public electricity\u2026.etc., the whole community and eventually the whole city would gradually develop into a low carbon living environment for each one of us!
The 26th PPSEAWA International Conference 2016 will be held in Malaysia. During the conference, more than two to three hundred members from various chartered member countries will attend the important event. In response to the main theme of the conference this time: \u201cRespect the Environment for a Sustainable and Peaceful Future\u201d, the PPSEAWA Taiwan, ROC will concentrate on the subject of \u201chow to work toward a low carbon community\u201d, and share with every participating member nations the remarkable achievements of promoting \u201clow carbon\u201d life in Taiwan!\u00a0
